Concept render done for a reprint of Robert Silverberg's story, "The 13th Immortal".
the really cool thing about this illustration is that the city is made almost entirely from chess pieces that have been resized and textured to look like the building blocks of the futuristic city! even the 'land mass' is a huge knight on its side and submerged below the surface of the water.
this series exactly illustrates why i love bryce so much -- even an idiot like me can produce eye candy! the added bonus for me is that i love using 'found objects' so retasking chess pieces to serve as enormous monolithic building blocks - well, it just does not get any better than that!
