this was a commissioned piece done for Cemetery Dance magazine a while back. the requirements were pretty defined / specific and i needed to illustrate a particular story, "Losing It" by Mark Morris. the story itself -- a very good one, too -- is about this average joe who wakes up with some startling transformations he had no idea he was undergoing. it isn't until he looks in the mirror that he realizes the extent of what's going on. :-) you can get your own copy of the magazine by clicking on the magazine.

"WOW this is VERY WEIRD. But I like it!"
"I don't know what to think"
"Looks painful. I love it"
"creepy...I love it "
"that sucks for this guy! haha."
"if it wasn't for your title i would assume this guy was afraid of opening his third eye. That is what the cover of tool is based off of anyways. the bad hair day and the third eye are not clicking for me. plus i am not a big fan of the symetric head shots. Plus the way his eyebrows are twisted does not fit with his mouth. maybe have one lip up or his tongue sticking out. there is so much going on above his mouth i feel there should be more down there. dont get me wrong the work is good i just dont think it's complete.
audre sais: Thanks Crystal for your comment. Actually, "afraid of opening his third eye" is pretty much the gist of the story :-). My image titles don't necessarily reflect the purpose of the illustration and in this case is somthing I was having fun with. -- DOH! sorry bout that. "
"I think it's great, especially the hands. But one little thing.. i think that it would be even more better without that blue third eye.."
"amazing it should be a tool cover!"
"lol"
